We believe in a world where no one has to die from preventable diseases

3 billion people in the world cook over an open flame.
5 billion people do not have access to basic healthcare.

4 million people die prematurely due to issues related to indoor air pollution. 60% of indigenous communities lack access to basic healthcare. Together we can change that.
We believe that by working in partnership with local communities, we can improve health outcomes and empower women and girls.

Working in partnership with members of local communities, The Impulso Project (TIP) assists in the development of projects that will address local areas of concern. Along with organizations and leaders in rural communities of Guatemala, TIP has identified three common areas of concern. First, how best to avoid preventable diseases among indigenous peoples. Second, what sustainable changes can be made to empower women. Third, what are the most effective methods to provide information on proper nutrition while maintaining food traditions.
In cooperation with local community leaders and organizations, TIP has assisted in developing four projects to address the identified areas of concern. The goals of the projects are in alignment with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals 2030.
Four projects focus on addressing the areas of concern. Two specific projects address healthcare issues. To improve health outcomes, TIP provides fuel efficient stoves that reduce indoor air pollution, a major cause of upper respiratory health concerns. Mobile clinics further address healthcare issues and are used to reach families in rural communities that would otherwise be required to travel hours or even days to receive healthcare. Women and girls are empowered by providing information on how to make sanitary pads. Women and girls presently do not have access to these items and therefore do not attend work or school while menstruating. Having the skills necessary to make and even sell sanitary pads empowers women and girls. Educational programming provides much needed information on proper nutrition and cooking methods while maintaining food traditions.
